Essential Oils & What You Need To Know
Essential oils harness the natural healing power of plants. They are concentrated botanical extracts that contain the aromatic healing compounds found in various parts of plants, such as flowers, leaves, stems, and roots. They are absorbed into the body via the nose and skin carrying their vital healing properties to wherever they are needed., When absorbed through the skin, the essential oil molecules enter the bloodstream and are carried around the entire body. When inhales, the pass down into the lungs and pass into the bloodstream form there.
Essential oils act on our body’s limbic system, the primitive part of our brain that is associated with memory and emotional response. This is why certain scents can produce very powerful memories and feelings and can also have a strong influence on our emotional and mental wellbeing.
Before you begin using essential oils, we recommend that you read our Essential Oil Safety Guide.Â
How To Use Essential Oils
Diffuser or Oil Burner:Â This is the best way to add essential oils to your atmosphere. Adding a few drops to an oil diffuser or burner send an aromatic mist into the air where you can easily breathe it in. Perfect for scenting your space, respiratory problems or congestion.
Bath: Add a few drops of your favourite blend to a warm bath for the ultimate in relaxation. Bath steaming is also a great way to inhale beneficial essential oils for respiratory problems, congestion or colds.
Massage: Essential oils add a touch of luxury to a massage and are perfect when giving a romantic massage to your partner. Be sure to blend essential oils with a suitable carrier oil first.
